Matre's "Specialty Coffee" is more than just a characteristic of our coffee, but a classification based on international standards.
Specialty Coffee begins at the farm. The coffee plant receives special attention begining with the beans variety, soil requirements, air temperature, humidity, altitude and more.


After harvest collection, beans can still be disqualified if not up to standard. Only beans of the highest quality are selected and then certified as Special Green Coffee.
After the beans are roasted, a SCA Certified Taste Tester grades the coffee based on the SCA Cupping Protocol from 0 to 100. Specialty Coffee must be rated 80 and above.


Matre Coffee only provides you with SCA Cupping Protocol's rate that is higher than 80 Specialty Coffee.
